Our tree planting partner is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to provide fair wage employment to impoverished villagers as agents of global forest restoration. They hire the poorest of the poor to grow, plant, and guard to maturity native species forest on a massive scale. Their “employ to plant methodology” results in a multiplication of positive socio-economic and environment measures. By the year 2025 their objective is to plant a minimum of 500 million trees each year and to offer hope through the employment of tens of thousands of people in countries where extreme poverty is rampant. By keeping their overhead costs low, they are now recognised as one of the most cost-effective reforestation projects on the planet.

Trees Could Change the Climate More Than Scientists Thought

A growing body of research suggests that models of the warming world have underestimated a crucial ingredient: vegetation.

Tree planting has the potential to increase carbon sequestration capacity of forests

Several initiatives have been proposed to mitigate forest loss and climate change through tree planting as well as maintaining and restoring forest ecosystems. These initiatives have both inspired and been inspired by global assessments of tree and forest attributes and their contributions to offset carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Planting trees for carbon credits

Increasing concentrations of certain atmospheric gases, particularly CO 2 , may be intensifying Earth’s naturally occurring greenhouse effect. Anthropogenic emissions of CO 2 are mostly associated with fossil-fuel combustion and deforestation, both of which are intimately associated with diverse economically important activities. This circumstance will make it difficult for society to rapidly achieve large reductions in the emissions of CO 2 . The extensive planting of trees can contribute to offsetting a portion of the anthropogenic emissions of CO 2 and other radiatively active gases (RAGs). Growing plants fix atmospheric CO 2into organic carbon of their accumulating biomass, and ecological budgets suggest that substantial carbon credits can be achieved by planting large numbers of trees, in both urban and rural environments. Moreover, many additional noncarbon environmental benefits are achieved by planting trees over extensive areas.
