Sustainability… erm…?

Spada’s research on environmental reporting showed FTSE100 companies were more than a little clueless when explaining environmental terms and concepts.

When 79 leading companies were asked to define their interpretation of ’sustainability’, only 2 (British American Tobacco and BP) were able to!

It’s really no surprise that many companies don’t ‘get’ sustainability – just look at the state of the current financial climate.  It’s all the evidence you need!!

AccountAbility’s standards, the AA1000 Series, “are principles-based standards that provide the basis for improving the sustainability performance of organisations”.  It has become the gold standard for sustainability, or non-financial auditing and assurance, and a leading standard for stakeholder engagement. Hundreds of organisations now use the series to guide their practices – let’s hope the magic spreads!
